Giulia Rossini (born 1990) is an artist, researcher, and independent curator currently based in Zürich. She graduated with an MA in Fine Arts from ZHdK Zürich and audited the MA Art History in a Global Context at UZH in the same year.
With experience in production and curatorial roles across numerous cultural institutions, she is committed to promoting cultural convergence by co-curating and initiating collaborative, transdisciplinary projects that bring together multiple participants and knowledge bases. The goal is to integrate territorial, historical, social, and political knowledge within horizontally governed projects and institutional spaces, facilitating increased awareness and capacity to respond positively to global issues.
Since 2023, she has served as an independent curator, actively engaging as a member of a working group for the upcoming Dakar Biennale and the African Art Book Fair. From 2020 to 2022, she was a curatorial assistant and researcher for the curatorial collective ruangrupa at Documenta Fifteen in Kassel, DE, actively involved in creating and launching an ongoing experimental platform for knowledge production (Composting Knowledge) across disciplines. Emphasizing cooperative, non-hierarchical, neighborhood-centered principles, the network brought together artists, activists, and experts from various disciplines and all corners of the globe, experimenting together and developing processes for knowledge production.
Rossini’s collaborations (2015-2018) span institutions such as Opernhaus Zürich, Theater Neumarkt, Theatre Vidy-Lausanne, Theater Basel, Oldenburgisches Staatstheater, and Théâtre National de Strasbourg. These experiences have enriched her insights into the art of transmitting political discourses in performative settings, such as repertoire operas and contemporary theater.
